📡 Topic: From Cybersecurity Research to Cyber AI Education: Advancing Secure Systems and Building the Next-Generation Workforce

Speaker: Swapnoneel Roy, Ph.D. is a Full Professor of Computing and Director of the Center for Cybersecurity at the University of North Florida (UNF). An IEEE Senior Member and a 2022–2024 FIS Distinguished Professor, Dr. Roy conducts research and leads education and workforce-development initiatives spanning cybersecurity, secure and resilient systems, artificial intelligence, network and IoT security, and cyber defense.

Dr. Roy has conducted research with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) through its Summer Faculty Research Program. His recent NRL research resulted in two papers published at IEEE MILCOM 2025, addressing emerging challenges in secure and resilient networked systems. His work reflects a broader research agenda focused on translating advances in cybersecurity and intelligent systems into solutions relevant to government, defense, industry, and critical infrastructure.

Dr. Roy also serves as Principal Investigator of CyberJaxAI-PATH: Cyber AI Pathways for K–12 Education, a $720,915 National Security Agency-funded National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) initiative led by UNF in collaboration with Florida State College at Jacksonville, Jacksonville University, and Duval County Public Schools. The project integrates artificial intelligence literacy, machine learning, cybersecurity, and responsible AI into educational pathways while strengthening Northeast Florida's long-term cybersecurity workforce pipeline.

Dr. Roy has led or participated in multiple NSA-funded cybersecurity and GenCyber initiatives connecting universities, schools, government, and industry.
